inspiration

You can weave with different types of linen and linen blend yarns, and cotton as well.

You can choose to weave with a very simple treadling, with the twill lines in the different sections always going in the same direction. By changing the direction of treadling every so often, you can produce a subtle pattern on the fabric. When the warp and weft yarns are of contrasting colours, the twill lines will be more defined.

This small towel was woven with a thin, white linen yarn and the treadling order was varied to make a subtle pattern appear.

further projects with this fabric

Weave with thin linen to produce a light and elegant fabric that is perfect for a tea towel or even a table runner. If you want a thicker, sturdier fabric, to be used as a seat cover in the sauna for example, use heavier linens.
