inspiration

Cotton and other plant-based fibers are a good choice for weft yarn. Fine wool yarns would yield a warmer and at the same time lighter result.

In addition to the bolder colours, there are wide sections of different beige tones in the warp, which makes it easy for you to combine your favourite colours into the mix. Your choice of weft yarns will have a huge impact on how the warp colours will look like.

further projects with this fabric

Make sure to wash the woven fabric before use, as the cotton will shrink and become more dense. If you put it in the washing machine, use a very gentle spin so that you don’t get permanent creases in the fabric.

If you weave a rectangle and fold it on the opposite corners, you will get a nice triangle scarf. If you decide to weave a longer piece, you can use it as a light blanket, perfect for summer siesta in a hammock! The fabric will also double up as a picnic blanket. Finish off the piece by twisting, braiding or knotting the fringe.

The warp is wide enough to make a clothing fabric. Why not make a stylish new summer caftan or kimono with a hand-woven fabric?
